The curtain rises on the Colnago Cycling Festival: finally we can reveal the three new tracks that will be faced by thousands of cyclists on 15, 16 and 17 May 2015 around Desenzano del Garda (BS).
The routes have been completely redesigned compared to previous editions to offer participants a spectacle even more irresistible and make them find out unprecedented climbs. The programme provide 159 km and 2044 meters in altitude for the queen race, the Gran Fondo; 110 km and 1384 meters in altitude for the Medio Fondo and 77 kilometers and 940 meters for the short course. These are briefly the numbers of the three new routes through the beautiful natural scenery that Lake Garda and the entire area offers, but we are glad to get you into the detail of the tracks.
After the first 25 km run along Lake Garda shores, cyclists will face the first ascent of the event that leads from Gardone Riviera to San Michele (6 km with an average gradient of 6%, maximum 12.5%). Admiring the blue waters of the lake combined with the architectural beauty of the Italian Vittoriale and the open-air theater built in memory of the “inimitable life” by Gabriele D’Annunzio, the riders who will opt for the middle path will continue along Coste Ascent, that from Sabbio Chiese leads to Cima delle Coste, while riders enrolled in the short course from Tormini Soprazzocco (km 46) will return to Desenzano through a 11 km pedaling uphill that will take cyclists from 290 meters to 580 meters Sabbio Chiese peak (average gradient of 4%, maximum 8.5%).
The final roughness is reserved for those who will compete on the Gran Fondo route, which in Botticino (113 km race) will start climbing towards Cima San Gallo. A fun journey along the paths that connect Botticino, actually known for its marble Botticino used for the decoration of the Vittoriano in Rome, wine Botticino DOC and the renowned shoes factories, will allow the strongest riders to reach Castello di Serle, passing in front of the century Hermitage of the Holy Trinity before returning to Desenzano del Garda.
The organizing committee led by Tazio Palvarini established four “ristoro”, refreshment points, to ensure water supply and a nice stop to taste fruit and sweets for everyone living Colnago Cycling Festival experience. The first refreshment will be placed in San Michele (km 33.5), the second in Cima Coste, before falling to Vallio after 71 km from the start, the third in Serle before jumping down after 125 km and the last one in Carzago Padenghe area (km 149).
Cyclists safety in the race is one of the main objectives of the organizing committee that in the new edition of the event will be supported as in the past editions by Cavalier Ernesto Colnago and by Desenzano del Garda Municipality, therefore, more than 570 people will be engaged in the work of supervision and protection of the caravan so that the participants in the race will be able to enjoy the experience while avoiding any risks.
